The Brewing Process

Here’s a bit of a run down on the basics of brewing here in Australia.

As mentioned on other area’s of the site, there are some differences to how different beers are brewed, Ales are generally top fermented, and in the case of British cask ales, are fermented in open fermenters (within strictly controlled hygienic rooms).Belgian lambic ales are also brewed in open fermenters, but without the hygiene controls, to enable the weird and wonderful airborne yeasts to get involved.

However, we will just cover the basic principles of Lager brewing below.
